Caxixi Percussion Set

Bring culture to the classroom with this set of three natural caxixi from Awe & Wonder.

The caxixi (Ka-shee-shee) is a percussion instrument that originated in Africa and South America. It is made of a woven basket with a solid bottom filled with recycled plastic beads, and it has a handle for easy play.

The caxixi, like other percussion instruments, is played by shaking, giving children an opportunity to deepen their understanding of rhythm, dynamics, and musical expression. Sounds can be varied by either shaking the contents against the side of the instrument for one sound or against the base for caxixi for a different tone.
