This wooden interpretation of Morchella (morel) mushrooms is a beautiful, nature-inspired resource designed for early childhood settings. Crafted from sustainably sourced timber with smooth, child-safe finishes, it supports open-ended play, sensory exploration and early inquiry learning. Inspired by real fungi found in nature, it aligns with the EYLF learning outcomes and the NQF, particularly Quality Area 1: Educational Program and Practice. While real morel mushrooms are edible only when cooked and can be toxic if eaten raw, this wooden version provides a safe way to explore nature, food awareness and respect for Country, acknowledging the deep ecological knowledge of First Nations Australians.
