Bushland & Blooms Playscarves

Inspired by the colours of bushland and flowering gardens, these six soft, lightweight cotton playscarves bring a touch of nature to children’s play.

Spread them beneath animal figures to create a bushland habitat, gather and fold them into flowers, or weave them through baskets and branches. They can become garden beds in a small world, blankets for dolls or fluttering butterflies during music and movement.

An open-ended resource, playscarves give children room to follow their own ideas and find different uses for familiar materials. Folding, draping and arranging the fabric supports fine motor skills and spatial awareness, while shared play provides opportunities to exchange ideas, negotiate roles and tell stories.

The pink scarf offers a lovely connection to Australia’s pink everlasting daisies. Their papery pink “petals” are actually modified leaves called bracts, surrounding tiny flowers clustered in the yellow centre. Try creating fabric flowers together and looking closely at real blooms to discover their different parts.

Care: Gently hand wash in cold water with mild detergent. Do not bleach, wring or tumble dry. Dry flat in the shade and use a cool iron if needed.
