Earth, Sky and Sea Playscarves

Inspired by the colours of the natural world, these six soft, lightweight cotton scarves invite children to explore, create and tell stories through play.

An open-ended resource for early childhood environments, each scarf can become something different in children’s hands. Create a river winding through a small world landscape, layer earthy colours beneath woodland animals, or drape fabric over blocks to make a shelter. Children can wrap dolls, conceal treasures or explore how the fabric moves as they wave and twirl it to music.

With no fixed outcome, children make their own choices, test ideas and adapt materials to suit their play. Arranging, folding and layering the scarves supports fine motor skills, while creating shared landscapes encourages collaboration, storytelling and new language. Their gentle texture also offers opportunities for sensory exploration and conversations about colour, movement and nature.

Care: Gently hand wash in cold water with mild detergent. Do not bleach, wring or tumble dry. Dry flat in the shade and use a cool iron if needed.
