Meet Strutty McFlap our Cassowary Hand Puppet: the fabulous, flamboyant, slightly sassy superstar of the rainforest! With a helmet-like crest perfect for dramatic poses, bright blue feathers that scream “look at me!”, and legs made for strutting (and very careful waddling), this cassowary bursts into storytime ready to flap, wobble, and squawk its way into every adventure. Warning: prolonged exposure may result in sudden imitation of rainforest struts and dramatic “ta-da!” moments.

Strutty McFlap is a member of our eco-friendly puppet crew—made from recycled plastic and 100% mischief-ready! These puppets have been given a second chance at life: once bottles, containers, and other bits of plastic, now they’re wiggling, squawking, and flapping their way into storytime. They’re basically superheroes in disguise—saving the planet one giggle at a time while teaching kids that even trash can have a second act.

Inspired by Australian wildlife and Aboriginal storytelling traditions, this cassowary teaches children about Country, community, and rainforest stories—though it often interrupts to insist on being the star of every tale, photobomb puppet adventures, or challenge other puppets to strut-offs.
