Mortar & pestles are an ancient tool that have existed in one form or another through history where they have been used to crush herbs and spices for cooking or rocks for paint. In early learning centres, mortar & pestles combine a child's love of construction or should we say deconstruction, imagination, experimentation and sensory play. Children can use fresh or dried herbs to create their own potions, spells or concoctions.
