NEW KIYA CLOTHING DESIGN — AS SEEN ON PLAY SCHOOL

Kiya holds a special place in the hearts of children across Australia, and we’re honoured to share more of her story through this new clothing design.

Kiya was created through a meaningful collaboration between Play School, the ABC’s Indigenous Unit, and Western Australian makers Awe & Wonder, working on Minang Boodja. Her character has been lovingly shaped with guidance from Aboriginal early childhood consultant Jessica Staines and early childhood education consultant Dr Ruby Scarlet, whose cultural knowledge and storytelling expertise helped bring Kiya’s adventures to life.

Our Awe artisans were incredibly proud to contribute to Kiya’s creation. Every stitch and detail was crafted with respect, joy, and cultural care. We will be stocking the official ABC replica of Kiya, and for those who love the handmade magic, her Mob of friends—carefully crafted by our artisans—are also available.

Just like the rich diversity of First Nations cultures, dresses may vary slightly, giving each Kiya her own unique personality.
