Etoile Braiding Star and Lucet Set

This set is one for the creatively minded, combining the Etoile Braiding Star and The Lucet.

The Lucet or Knitting Fork was found in European Archaeological records in medieval times when the Vikings used Lucets to make cord and rope for ships.

The Etoile is a Japanese method of braiding cord known as 'Kumihimo' which means 'gathered threads'. Kumihimo is used in jewellery making, for tying up pouches and for decorating swords and armour. 

Both of these ancient crafts are not only addictive and fun but will both see children benefit in early numeracy, pre-writing, social and emotional intelligence, science investigation, sustainable principles and connecting with culture and history.

Both the Lucet and the Etoile can be used with different types of yarn, string and threads to give different appearances, effects and patterning.
