Sea Turtle Booyi
Booyi in Noongar means Sea Turtle; holding and carrying Kadadjiny ‘knowledge’, they are wise and patient. Our hand painted unique designs in shades of djedari ‘brown’, yoont ‘yellow’ and nodjam ‘green’ are inspired by the unique shells of the Booyi. A traditional Mereny ‘food’ source; turtles and eggs, with the shell being used for food preparation and as a carrying vessel.
Our Booyi ‘Sea Turtles’ are a perfect resource to pair with books Booyi Wongka ‘Sea Turtle Story and Dreaming’, learning about the Booyi lifecycle activities and in your discovery trays creating opportunities for Koolangka ‘kids’ to learn about our Wardan / Maambakoort Barna ‘Ocean Animals’ and enjoy the sensory experience of feeling the hand painted artwork of the Booyi.
