Metal Guiro

Another modern twist on a traditional instrument. This guiro is played by holding the spiral on a surface or held in the hand, the metal stick can then be used to create a variety of sounds.

The spiral can also be wobbled to create a unique sound. When using this instrument, children have the opportunity for aural development including recognising dynamics, pitch and texture. In addition to this, children develop processes such as experimentation and manipulating objects to explore cause and effect.

A quirky little instrument

Couldn't ignore this instrument at the special price, and I'm glad I purchased it! It plays like a regular guiro, but with a twist: holding and releasing the metal cup against your body while playing creates a 'wah-wah' effect. The resulting tone sounds like a cross between a jaw-harp and a berimbau. Tapping the cup and the spring create additional useful tones. A quirky and versatile percussion tool!
